Not too long ago Tim and I visited Mauna Kea Forest Reserve. This place is gorgeous!! You need four-wheel drive in order to access it at all but it's totally worth it. This reserve is absolutely massive... it would take literally days to explore the whole place. Rocky roads branch off in every direction and you can drive any which way and see so many different things.
Much of it winds through fields of bright yellow flowers filled with flittering white butterflies. The sun was shining brilliantly that day and the sky was clear (something that is unusual... usually this place is covered in clouds making for terrible visibility. But this particular day we were very lucky, and I was able to get several wonderful pictures out of it.)
