pe'epe'e falls

A couple of weeks ago Tim and I stopped by Boiling Pots State Park while we were in Hilo.  It's called that because the river is supposed to look like it's boiling because of all the lava tubes and interesting terrain... but I don't know.  It looked like a normal river to me.  It was beautiful, though!  The waterfall that you see is called Pe'epe'e falls (no, not pee pee!  Pay-eh pay-eh.)

We had to hike down a steep, slippery, muddy slope and Tim and I almost got washed away by the rain (okay I'm exaggerating... slightly.)  I didn't take too many pictures but here they are anyway.  Enjoy!  :)

These flowers look like Christmas trees!  They grow in this funny cone-shape.  Aren't they cool?
