A couple of weeks ago, when Tim and I drove south of Kona, we also stopped at Kealakekua Bay. Wow! I didn't realize that when the tsunami hit there, it was a 19 foot wave! It's funny, but they didn't really show what happened to this area on the news. They did show that one picture of the house that was almost completely underwater (which was here) but that was pretty much it.
The damage here was WAY worse than in Kona. So we stopped and I took several pictures. The area used to be a really nice beach but now it's trashed and closed off to the public.
