Staying in San Diego was really fun because Joan seemed to be on an ongoing quest to take me to all the best photo spots. I think if I'd stayed there much longer I probably would have really gotten to know the area better. It was nice to have someone not only want to go with my on my picture-taking excursions, but be so completely patient as I took excessive amounts of photos. I'm used to people getting impatient as I stop to snap shots of everything, but she spent over three hours with me in Balboa Park and was totally happy just hanging out. She really made my visit a lot of fun and I so appreciate her! :)
I absolutely loooooove the photos from this day. I was having such a great time and I got so many good shots. Balboa Park is definitely an easy place to go take pictures because there's just so much to see.
One of the funniest things about these photos is they make it look like overall the park was mostly deserted. But it wasn't at ALL!! It was a Saturday, and there were people everywhere. But it seemed like every single time I would stop to take a photo, people would magically walk out of frame, all of the cars would drive by and no more would come JUST long enough for me to take a picture or two. Then people would walk back in frame again. It was like the universe kept reaching down all day and saying, "Here, let me clear all these people up for you. Got the shot? Ok good."
Seriously, if you had seen it you would have laughed. That's why here and there you will see a picture I threw in that I took on purpose with people just to prove they were actually there!! It was just felt like everything was staged just for me. I love law of attraction!
Oh and p.s. I don't care what anyone says, I think converging verticals can be really cool!
This is the most anatomically correct horse statue ever...
I liked both angles of this balcony too much to pick just one...
This was the trickiest photo ever (below)... it had all these elements around it that just did not work with the rest of the photo, but I LOVED the vines and the arch and I finally found a good composition for it!
This is one of my new FAVORITES!!!!!!! (below) Every time I see this picture I just want to walk through there again!

absolutely beautiful friend!
I'm a big fan of Balboa Park. It's definitely in my top 3 places to hang in San Diego. Looks like you had an interesting sky that day. I like the clouds in the first shot.
What type of processing did you do on the photos. Some of the photos really look good because of it (like the Organ Pavilion) but I think I would have preferred something different for some of the photos (like those of Spanish Village). That said, I enjoyed your collection of photos. Really lovely.
thank you so much :) i use a combination of camera raw, filters and photoshop layer masks and adjust a lot of colors individually.
